2027 RAM ProMaster City: Ready for Work

2026-03-20

After a few years of absence, the RAM ProMaster City is making its return to the North American market. The small van from the American automaker left the market in 2022, leaving a significant gap in RAM’s lineup.

In my opinion, this is an excellent decision by Stellantis, especially since competitors have also phased out their small vans in recent years. As a result, the RAM ProMaster City is entering a market with little to no competition.

A New Generation

It’s easy to understand why the RAM ProMaster City had reached the end of its lifecycle when it was discontinued in 2022. Nevertheless, the American automaker is bringing back a completely new generation that is significantly more modern.

First, the new RAM ProMaster City features a noticeably larger footprint than the previous generation, thanks to the use of an already existing European architecture. It moves from a compact category into a midsize segment, which is likely to appeal more to business owners.

The 2027 RAM ProMaster City will offer two configurations. First, buyers can opt for a cargo version specifically designed for transporting goods. There will also be a passenger version capable of carrying up to eight people.

A Capable Vehicle

On the mechanical side, the new van will be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 166 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.

The 2027 RAM ProMaster City offers a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds as well as a payload capacity of 2,000 pounds. Its cargo space is large enough to accommodate a standard 4x8 sheet.

If this van interests you, you’ll need to be a bit patient, as its arrival on the market is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
